Gold Mohur of a short-lived Emperor......Shah Jahan II ruled for three months as an Emperor and his birth name was Rafi-ud-Daula. So due to his short reign his coinage becomes a fascination. Minted in Ujjain, this gold mohur of Shah Jahan II is just a fascinating piece of numismatics.
The Obverse of this gold coin depicts Persian script which reads “sikka mubarak badshah ghazi Shah Jahan” and Reverse side bears the reignal year Ahad (first year of reign) and mint name along its epithet “Dar (al) Fath Ujjain”.
This coin of Shah Jahan II weights 11.02 g is extremely rare and is in about extremely fine condition which was sold at an amazing price of INR 4,50,000.
It was auction by Classical Numismatics Gallery on 12th December 2014.
